Wailuku Hongwanji Buddhist Temple “Hatsubon” (first Obon) Service will be held on Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The following members will be memorialized each night at the service.

“Hatsubon” means “first Obon”, the first memorial since a loved one’s passing after the previous Obon. It offers family and friends a moment to reflect on how their loved one’s presence continues to touch their lives through memories, words, and actions. For those observing Hatsubon — and for all of us who have experienced loss — this is a time to recognize life’s impermanence and the lasting influence of those who came before us. Obon dance begins at 7:45 p.m
