Wailuku Hongwanji’s annual Obon is a significant Temple and community event. We are grateful for the support
our Sangha and affiliate organizations have provided in past years and look forward to continued manpower help
to make our 2025 Obon a success. The following preObon and post-Obon activities will require volunteer time and
energy, and we seek your help if you are available.
• July 31 – Lights & Decoration Set-up: Set up lighting and hang decorations, moving benches, moving Social
Hall tables and chairs and a number of labor-intensive works on Thursday, July 31, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Volunteers will be stringing lights and hanging chochins (lanterns). These tasks are expected to last about one
and half hours.
• August 02 – Dismantle Yagura starting at 10:15pm
• August 03 – Clean Grounds Starting at 7:30am: complete limited cleanup of the temple campus and store Obon
supplies.
Your participation and support are appreciated in making these events successful.
