The new location (two classrooms on the second floor of the social hall) for the Dharma School Obon Game activity proved to be a POSITIVE change as both rooms were well
attended on both nights! As “word got around” and signs helped to lead the public upstairs, rooms became filled with voices and laughter throughout the evenings. New signs
were added the second night for newcomers not aware of the change of rooms. Thank you
to Ed Tamori and Mike Higa who were stationed near the stairwell to remind children to
WALK up and down the stairs. Thank you to all adult volunteers (Farron Cabral, Shelley
and Chris Quipotla, Krystle Beauchamp, Shari Osajima, Laurie Fukushima-Tsai, Emi
Orikasa, Cathy Ikeuchi, Elizabeth Tamori and Julie Petro) and student volunteers (Cara,
Kamauoha, Erik, Logan, and Wesley and Sierra from Makawao Jr. YBA) for manning the
six games (Spin the Wheel, Tic Tac Toe, Three Ball Roll, Golf Putt, Fishpond, and Soda
Ring Toss) and the prize redemption table.
