Members of the Wailuku Hongwanji Mission Buddhist Women’s Association (BWA) attended the Gotan-e and Mother’s Day Service on May 10 and enjoyed refreshments prepared by the Scouts following the service. On May 17, BWA members attended the Fujimatsuri celebration at Kahului Hongwanji Mission. The gathering, sponsored by the Maui Hongwanji Council, provided a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and shared appreciation of the Dharma. The BWA also assisted with preparation and sales of chow fun during the Maui Matsuri festivities held on May 23. During the Memorial Day and Dharma School Recognition Service on May 24, the BWA extended its appreciation and gratitude to the Dharma School teachers for their dedication and guidance to the children of the temple community.
The BWA Cookbook Committee recently completed the third and final printing of the 120th Anniversary Cookbook. Anyone interested in purchasing a cookbook may contact Gwen Hiraga for more information. The next BWA General Membership Meeting will be held on June 14 following the church service.
