Sakura 4-H Clubs – The Clover Report : November 2025

The Shining Stars 4-H Club had their first club meeting on Sunday, September 28 at the Social Hall. They learned about Halloween safety tips when going trick or treating and getting candy. They also made a spider out of pipe cleaners that was used to decorate their glow stick necklaces that can help them be seen when they’re out and about trick or treating with their families during the nighttime. Finally, the girls made their own edible spooky pumpkin graveyards out of pudding, Oreo cookie crumbs, gummy worms, chocolate cake, and candy pumpkins. They’re all ready for a safe and fun Halloween!

In September, our Lokahi Girls hiked up Kauhikoa Hill in search of a historic Government Triangulation Station once used by land surveyors to establish property boundaries. The journey wasn’t easy — they were working from only a vague description to locate the hidden trail leading to the solitary concrete monument at the hill’s summit. But with teamwork and determination, the girls reached their goal in just 20 minutes! After making the discovery, we hiked back down and wrapped up the adventure with a visit to one of the nicest playgrounds on the island. Everyone had a fantastic time!

For their project activity in October the Lokahi Girls were fortunate enough to have Anelise Puentes, YMCA Aquatics Director, teach them about water safety. Among the many things they learned, they also practiced water rescues and of course a few rounds of Marco Polo. They ended the afternoon with a nice picnic in the community garden and learned about AEDs.

In October, Maui 4-H celebrated the welcome back of the Maui County Fair by marching in the County Parade wearing their pink Sakura 4H shirts. The girls were excited to be a part of the parade, cheered for the other groups and had a blast walking up Ka’ahumanu seeing so many familiar faces.

The first Sunday in November will be our 4-H Sunday service – please join us for service and refreshments afterwards
