Troop 40 Celebrates Scout Sunday

Troop 40 celebrated Scout Sunday on February 1. Scout Sunday honors the founding of Scouting by William D. Boyce in 1910 and recognizes the values of character, service, and community that Scouting promotes. Wailuku Hongwanji Mission has supported Scouting since 1944 and has helped guide many young men to the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Scouts BSA program and one achieved by only ~4% of Scouts nationwide. Troop 40 has earned an impressive 303 Eagle Scouts to date. Continuing that proud tradition, Tate Fukunaga recently completed his Eagle Scout project by removing rust and sanding and repainting the railings around the temple and social hall. His hard work has helped beautify and preserve our church grounds for the entire sangha and community

Troop 40 also welcomed students from HOSA Future Health Professionals, who presented to the community about health service data and the goals of their program. We were especially proud that our own Scout, Erik Tsai, helped lead the presentation.
