The Maui Hanamatsuri Association warmly invites all temple members to the Central Maui Hanamatsuri Festival, taking place on Sunday, April 6, at the Wailuku Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. You are encouraged to join your temple members and friends for this significant Buddhist event.
The program will start with a service at 9:00 a.m., followed by a day filled with games and entertainment in the courtyard and social hall. The day will conclude with lunch with attendees coming together in fellowship and reflection as we celebrate Shakyamuni Buddha’s birthday.
Hanamatsuri, commemorating the birth of Sakyamuni Buddha over 2,500 years ago, is one of the most cherished observances in Buddhist traditions. This year, the festival is proudly sponsored by Kahului Hongwanji, Kahului Jodo Mission, Makawao Hongwanji, Wailuku Hongwanji, and Wailuku Jodo Mission. Members from the Lahaina Hongwanji and Lahaina Jodo Mission will also be attending the event.
There is no cost to attend the festival; however, to assist the food committee to prepare enough food, please contact the temple office at (808) 244-0406 with your lunch count. The deadline to submit lunch count is Monday, March 24
