Tadaichi Fukunaga Dana Award Nominations Requested

Wailuku Hongwanji is now receiving nomination applications for the Tadaichi Fukunaga Dana Award. A symbol of selflessness that reaches beyond words, the Dana Award is presented to one or two Wailuku Hongwanji members each year for their sustained selfless and compassionate actions.

Established in 1982, the award is founded on the life principles of Mr. Tadaichi Fukunaga, who cherished and practiced our Shin Buddhist value of Dana. Mr. Fukunaga served in many capacities as an officer of the Wailuku Hongwanji, and served as a director and advisor to the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii. He was an outstanding individual, caring for his family, and supporting his temple and community.

Nomination applications for this year’s Dana Award is due by October 31, 2024. Applications will be reviewed by the Dana Award Committee, with presentation of the award(s) made at Wailuku Hongwanji’s Sokai (General Assembly meeting) in January 2025. Application forms may be requested from the Temple office.
