Boy Scouts Journey Through Haleakala Crater

The boy scouts went on a 20 mile hike in Haleakala. They started at 9am and finished
the hike at 8pm! They stayed the night in Holua cabin while the temperature dropped
to 40 degrees! They got to see a few Nenes, the Silversword plant and underground cave
and lots of amazing scenery!

Six of the scouts from the troop were inducted to the Order of the Arrow which is boy scouts national honor society. They had to go through an “Ordeal” which includes sleeping away from others with only a tarp, eating scant food, and not talking for entire day while doing a cheerful service project.

They all passed!
