Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

1box Chocolate Cake mix
1 box (3.4oz.) Instant Vanilla or Chocolate Pudding
4 eggs
¾ cup Salad Oil
1 pint sour cream (2 cups)
½ cup Chocolate Chips
1/3 cup Kahlua (optional)*

Combine cake mix and instant pudding. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, add oil, Kahlua* and sour cream. Beat well. Add to cake mixture and mix thoroughly. Mix in chocolate chips. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan (or lightly greased 9x13 inch pan). Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes

Th BWA had a busy month. Starting on July 8th, baked items and snacks were donated to Lanai Hongwanji Mission for it’s Obon. Special thanks to Cy Yoshizu (Makawao Hongwanji) for the photos! The General Membership meeting took place on July 9th. Participation in the general clean-up of the temple and facilities occurred on July 16th. Members also helped with Omigaki, cleaning the altar ornaments, on July 17th. A food sales table for Obon was set up on July 28th and 29th. Many thanks to our members who assisted with food preparation, baking of delicious homemade items, and doing shifts at the sales table.

Future events include the next Hosha day, which is scheduled for Thursday, August 3rd, at 8:00am, All temple members are welcomed to join our dedicated members in helping with Hosha. And, SAVE THE DATE! The 2023 Autumn Craft and Food Fair will be held on October 21st from 8:00am to 12:00 noon. Vendor booth/table space is limited; however, there are a few openings. If interested, please contact Gwen Hiraga at (808) 280-0854 by August 31st.

BWA extends a Happy Birthday to our members born in August: Betsy Cardoza, Brian Hashiro, Molly Imoto, and Jane Shinoda.

BWA also extends our sincere condolences to the family of Edith Omuro, a long-time member.
