1 cup Sugar
1 cup Bisquick
3 cups Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
2 eggs
Pinch Salt
1 cup Milk
Oil for frying
Sift all dry ingredients. Beat eggs with milk. Mix dry and wet ingredients together. Do not over-mix. Drop with scooper and fry in hot oil.
BWA members Brian Hashiro, Jane Nishiguchi and Mary Tokumaru along with our BWA advisors Reverend and Minae Murakami attended the World Buddhist Women’s Convention held in Kyoto on May 11-12, 2023, at the Kyoto International Conference Center. The Convention was held in conjunction with the Joint Anniversary Celebration of Shinran Shonin’s 850th birthday and the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Hongwanji (Jodo Shinshu Teaching). The service was held on May 10, 2023. Following the convention, Reverend Murakami led a tour of BWA members from our Maui Units.
BWA members participated in many events in May.Members assisted with the preparation of the temple’s chow fun fundraiser at the Maui Matsuri Festival on May 27th at the UH Maui College. On May 28th, BWA members attended the Fujimatsuri Service held in commemoration of Shinran Shonin’s birthday at Lahaina Hongwanji Mission.
The next Hosha day is scheduled for Thursday, June 1, at 8:00 a.m. All temple members are welcomed to join our dedicated BWA members in helping with Hosha.
