Intergenerational Ohigan Activity

by: Joan Tamori, Frank Hamasaki, Sharon Higa

Students in the Dharma School program would like to invite temple members to attend the Dharma School’s First Sunday Service on Sunday, March 5, beginning at 8 a.m. After the service, members are invited to participate in the Ohigan Intergenerational Activity in the Social Hall. Participants will be invited to help build a 6 Paramita “boat.” This activity is in preparation of the Ohigan Service, which will be held on Sunday, March 12, beginning at 8 a.m.

Ohigan means crossing over to the “Other Shore.” Ohigan services are held during the spring and fall equinoxes when the days and nights are equal length signifying harmony in nature and in our lives. It is a time of self-reflection and honoring one’s ancestors.
