The BWA is pleased to share its members’ favorite recipes. The recipe of the month is Strawberry Yokan (provided courtesy of NancyShimoda):
Six Paramitas
The BWA members participated in the Dharma School’s Ohigan intergenerational activity (Six Paramitas) on March 5th following the Sunday service. Dharma School students partnered with BWA members for this activity. The BWA was pleased to present its annual donation to the Dharma School Director and teachers for their dedication and work with our youth, and for providing various intergenerational activities during the year. We look forward to future activities.
BWA membership Meeting

The BWA membership met on March 12th. Our annual donations were presented to the Chairman of the Wailuku Hongwanji Mission Board of Directors, Michael Munekiyo, for the Kyodan and office; to our organists Minae Murakami and Dale Sugiki; to Danny Topp for his technical assistance; and to Machiko Moriyasum for the beautiful weekly floral arrangements and arrangements for special services. Bette Nomura did a baking demonstration on Apple turnovers. We learned how and where to shop for ingredients, preparing the pastry, baking the turnovers, and icing the turnovers. The delicious turnovers were provided to the members in attendance at the meeting. Thank you Bette for your demonstration and helpful tips for baking! The next Hosha day is scheduled for Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. All temple members are welcomed to join our dedicated BWA members in helping with Hosha.

Craft and Sewing Group
In support of our fellow BWA members (Tamara Manley and Mark Miller), sandwiches were prepared by the Craft and Sewing Group on March 2nd for Maui Health employees who began their organized picketing on February 22, 2023. Reverend Murakami assisted with purchasing of the ingredients, preparing the sandwiches, and delivering the sandwiches and chips.
